Classic aerial straps consist of a pair of webbing straps with a fixed sewn loop at the top for attachment to a swivel or carabiner, and a hand loop at the bottom for the performer.
The lower loop is fitted with an adjustable keeper that helps prevent the hand from accidentally slipping out. Some professional aerialists use a so-called choke loop instead of the keeper. This is a specialised configuration intended only for experienced performers who are thoroughly familiar with this apparatus.
